Chelsea Push for Cesare Casadei Transfer

Fiorentina are reportedly eyeing a move for Cesare Casadei after he was excluded from Chelsea squad for their pre-season tour in the United States.

The 21-year-old Italian midfielder returned to Stamford Bridge in January after a year-long loan to Leicester, but has only seen 71 minutes of playtime since then.

Coach Enzo Maresca did not add the £12-million wunderkind to the team that played in recent friendlies against Wrexham and several other clubs, which has cast Casadei’s future into unfamiliar territory.

Fiorentina is the first franchise to express interest following the news, with new Viola coach Raffaele Palladino considering a loan deal for the U20 World Cup Golden Ball and Boot winner. Lazio and Bologna are also reportedly interested in borrowing him should he become available for the 2024/25 season.

Former World Cup winner, Francesco Graziani, thinks Casadei ought to return to Serie A to advance his career.

He stated: “Chelsea signed him because of his potential, thinking that they’d make a bargain for that fee, but it was not the case. I hope he returns to Serie A and that some Italian clubs will be interested in him. He will develop much more here than at other European clubs.”
